大學部外籍生、僑生入學英文分級說明

本校《大一英文分級》共分為5級，分為進階生、頂標生、前標生、中級生和初級生。外籍生及僑生入學均預設為「前標生」，若需調整《大一英文分級》，請依以下說明於入學當學期全校第三次選課前申請轉級（逾時申請恕不受理）。

• 外籍生
  • 國際學士班之學生由國際學士班辦公室通知是否轉級，經國際學士班辦公室彙整後送本中心統一異動，中心不個別受理。
  • 其他系所之外籍生，經所屬學系(班)同意，可另檢附資料，於入學當學期全校第三次選課前，填寫申請表向本中心申請《大一英文分級》異動，僅限一次。
    檢附之資料如英文檢定成績(請參酌CEFR對照表)，或持其它足以證明英文相當程度之有效資料(如國外全英文授課之高中全期成績單正本)。

• 僑生
  • 經所屬學系(班)同意，可另檢附資料，於入學當學期全校第三次選課前，填寫申請表向本中心申請《大一英文分級》異動，僅限一次。
    檢附之資料如英文檢定成績(請參酌CEFR對照表)，或持其它足以證明英文相當程度之有效資料(如國外全英文授課之高中全期成績單正本)。

Freshman English Placement for Foreign Students and Overseas Chinese Students

(Excluding students from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature/Department of English Instruction)

The Freshman English Placement in NTHU  is divided into 5 levels: advanced, proficient, upper-intermediate, intermediate, and elementary. 

Foreign students  and overseas Chinese students will be preassigned to “Upper-Intermediate” level. Any adjustment please follow the instructions below and apply before the “3rd Course Selection Period” during your first semester in NTHU. Late applications will not be accepted. Adjustment can be made only ONCE.

• Foreign Students
  • Students of the International Bachelor Degree Program (IBP) will be informed by the office of IBP. The staff of IBP will collect all the applications and send them to the Center for English Education. The Center for English Education will NOT accept individual applications.
  • Foreign students from the other departments who intend to adjust their Freshman English Placement should first obtain the approval from their department. With the approval, students can provide supporting documents* and fill out the application form.  Come to the Center for English Education to apply for the adjustment before  the “3rd Course Selection Period” during their first semester in NTHU. 

• Overseas Chinese Students
  • Overseas Chinese students who intend to adjust their Freshman English Placement should first obtain the approval from their department. With the approval, students can provide supporting  documents* and fill out the application form.  Come to the Center for English Education to apply for the adjustment before the “3rd Course Selection Period” during their first semester in NTHU.

*Supporting documents:

• Transcript of English proficiency tests (Please refer to CEFR.)

• Any valid document to certify your English proficiency, such as the full-term transcripts from an international school.
